Surprisingly Fun(ny) 15 mile Range DYU S2 E-Bike Review
Hey it's Jim, we're looking at the DYU S2, kind of that scooter bike crossover thing that can be approachable to some borderline silly sometimes too but it's still pretty dang fun to ride so let's look in close and talk about a little bit of the features the scooter is, i'm going to call it a scooter because it feels more like a scooter to me even though it has pedals as you can see there.

Charge port is there just to the side of the pedals, these crank arms are minuscule little 120 millimeter long crank arm so you kind of it kind of pedals a bit like a clown bike as i'll show 120 millimeter rotors with mechanical disc brakes this thing stops super fast, you got 10 by two and a half inch, tubeless tires you can tell it's tubeless air is you got a sealed valve stem on there plastic body.
A little chainring that you can't really change that does has guard here for your pants, a little fender in the back it's a real simple setup, there's a little cadence sensor right here it feels like it's moving a little bit and that's where the charge port is.
The seats sitting there that's at its maximum height on the seat so like 30 and a half inches so it's still pretty dang small handlebars are very basic display comes on and off with a long press on the power button and you just have four batter, four bars of battery indication, that's really all you got you do have cruise control it kicks in.
After something about eight seconds you got a light here and then you got a little horn, the folding mechanism is real simple you pretty much, just pull and this gonna this collapses down. the problem on my particular review model as you can see here this one. they have the kickstand on the opposite side as the handlebar folds so if i try to fold it it just wants to fall over, man i can't really flip that kickstand because it's it's sided.
I've got folding pedals here so if you're putting in your car maybe between your front back seats. it does get a little narrow it gets as narrow as 12 inches wide minimum dimensions all a bunch of dimensions are down the description these are all ones i measured.
Most important one i want to mention this is a little over 41 pounds so it's not exactly super lightweight and there are there really isn't a place to grab it besides like the seat post or something for like there's not like a handle for loading it into your vehicle, so we're gonna cruise around on this dyu s2 climeb hill, show you a few things here around carmichael california as you'll see the sign over there back in the background. so let's just do it
Okay i'm gonna just show you a little bit of pedaling the power off it's it's a little tough to pedal because your knees want to hit the handlebar or where your arms are, and it's pretty easy to hit the power button with your knee. i do have the seat all the way up so it does have pedal assist it does take a number of seconds for it to come in there, and then after about two seconds it actually starts moving the bike faster than i can pedal with if i wanted to keep up pedaling, i would really be doing a real quick spinning little thing that would be. looking a little silly.
Give you an idea what the top speed of this thing is, all right on the hill we're just going. to let it cruise down the hill see if it gets up above its rated speed. now with these 10 inch tires it feels zippier than the acceleration numbers, would suggest as i'll show on the screen here.
So it doesn't feel all that slow, the braking feels real good. let's see what the hill climb comes out, the cruise control is engaged now i held up for the requisite number of seconds.
So right now we stopped the jensen botanical garden, gonna check out some tulips irises maybe their irises back here, behind the the dyu, so one of the things i would note is the 10 inch tires, do you do feel more of the road with these and even with that little seat post, shock me at 175 pounds i'm pretty much bottoming out that shock most of the time
But the smaller tires are really fun and nimble and you can actually kind of handle you can actually turn with actually out, turning the handlebars and kind of use your body weight, which is pretty fun
It's really pretty i heard today well so i'll push it along this path we'll check out some other stuff the biker scooter or whatever you want to call it is nimble enough you know
It's pretty easy to just push around while you're walking and you can kind of fold it up and throw it into something. when you're ready to do so, the seats moderately comfortable uh, when you're riding on a bike scooter situation like this when 100 of your weight is on the seat it can be really challenging to be really comfortable for long distances which is what i'm gonna do today
I'm gonna see how far this thing will go. so this little dyus2 is advertised to be able to climb a 15 slope, this hill here tops out at 14 in the, middle so we're gonna see what happens
So it would not make it on throttle power, only oh that's interesting so i'm trying to pedal as i'm pedaling up this hill the front tire is coming off the ground so that's a little if you're a heavier rider that might be a little scary. oh cruise control engages and it started taking off, interesting. well, i wouldn't expect this to be a really hill climbing machine
all right so i'm five and a half miles in on my ride here on the dyu s2 i'll cruise on home um from here and let you know what that projects to be for a range um i'm thinking probably this is probably in the 15 mile realistic range. but you know it's pretty fun to zip around on don't, you can't take yourself too seriously with it and the pedals are more of a kind of interesting suggestion.
